So, I've kind of neglected this fully since I initially made it. In a way, it's a large task to tackle, especially since I'm not well versed in html. I'm also not sure how much of myself I want to put online. Over the past few years, I've walked away from having much identifiable information about me online after nearly my whole life of being largely encouraged to "build my own personal brand" and all that. Lolita fashion is a small community, and I fear that if I share too much info regarding my wardrobe, it might make me fairly identifiable, at least among those who know me. I've grown to be quite happy with being a nobody in the cyber world, so I don't want to jeopardize my comfort, but at the same time, I'd like to delve more into aspects lolita and lifestyle lolita that I love, especially as I don't see much discussion around such things these days.
Lifestyle lolita captured my attention long ago. In an age where buying the clothing wasn't nearly as accessible as it is today, it was still possible to participate in lolita discussions just by engaging in the same auxillary hobbies and medias that other lolitas enjoyed. We would all watch films about Marie Antoinette and various classical ballets, such as "Swan Lake" or "Giselle," and many of us would learn a musical instrument or hobbies such as embroidery and tatting. It was common to read and discuss classic literature as well. There was always an ambition to be a well-read and knowledgable princess: studious and elegant, kind and diligent. In our busy and modern world, much of that has fallen to the wayside, and even within lolita, there was a shift to thinking "Well, it's just clothes really. In fact, the clothes are really all that matters." We've seen a shift away from exploring and discussing shared hobbies to an atmosphere where, while meetups do still exist, many are little more than a photo opportunity for instagram. We have little in common with the rest of our comm members outside of wearing lolita fashion, and even then, there's such great variance between the styles of lolita that each comm member wears that even fashion is barely a topic of discussion.
Wishing to return to the more lifestyle nature of lolita, I've decided to make this blog after I was one day browsing old livejournals. I came across Bisko-chan's livejournal mentioning a Lifestyle Lolita Challenge. A link from her livejournal then led me to Lace a la Mode, a blog that I remembered for having nice meetup and interior decorating suggestions, but is now only accessible via the wayback machine. After reading that entry, I was led to the Facebook page, where the first post links to a Google spreadsheet listing all of the daily Lifestyle Lolita Challenges.
Reading through the challenges listed out in the spreadsheet, I do feel quite a number of them would be fun to partake in, even if not all of them might be worthy of creating a blog post for. I suppose I'll start off with having a crack at the corresponding challenge for today: July 3rd.
"Write a list of 5 things that would improve your wardrobe"
- More organization - every so often I colorize my wardrobe, but they get out of order quite quick and since they're jam-packed in there, it can be hard to find a specific piece when I'm looking for it.
- Pare down my wardrobe a bit - I know I have a few dresses that are quite similar in theme to other dresses. I'm especially bad with having multiple cat prints and while I know they aren't the same dress... they do often function quite similarily. Plus having fewer would help with organization. Additionally, I do have a few accessories I don't use as much that I could probably sell off.
- Come up with some new coord ideas - I'm not shy about "outfit repeating" because if I like how it looks, I'll wear it that way again and again and again. That said, sometimes it's fun to come up with new ways to wear something. I had a particular go-to coord for one jsk that I wore all the time, but then I experimented and found a different blouse I like better and now that is my new go-to for that jsk.
- I could benefit from a brown cardigan or bolero - pretty self explanatory, that one.
- More handmade pieces - I've had ideas for various pieces for a while now that I think about but I never actually make. It'd be nice to do that.

Additionally, wanting to return to the more studious nature of lifestyle lolita, I may begin adding info regarding film's I've seen.
