Back again with another update. First off: the 365 Lifestyle Lolita Challenge.

Just going through the highlights here! A few of these I either didn't feel like doing or don't feel like sharing.

August 16 -Read an Old Diary Entry: I never call it a diary. I think as a term that has a connotation that doesn't mesh well with me and is moreso about writing one's feelings and about crushes and such. I remember growing up and seeing electronic passcode diaries and stuff on commerical breaks from cartoons. Diary just isn't really what I do, but I do keep a journal which is a bit more like a scrapbook? I really do think it's quite fun to do and it's always nice to look back at my old coords and recaps of my travels and days.

August 19 - Share a brand or designer that lolitas might like:I'm a big fan of brooches specifically, and while this might be more appealing to morigirls than to lolitas, I love hirune's work (her Minne Shopand her Twitter).

She makes the cutest embroidered brooches and I love wearing them on my cardigans or pinning them to my berets!

August 28 - Take the "Lolita Level Up 2.0" Quiz: This is kind of interesting because it's quite a bit old and some of the things on here are very out of fashion (wigs and circle lenses) or aren't even possible to do (being in the GLB) anymore. I got the score of "80" so I am an "Experienced Lolita." There are a few things on here I could do to "level up" but honestly I don't have much interest in doing them. At the start of 2024, I had wanted to try and host a meetup to get points to level up, but nowadays I just don't care to do that? I am more a "lonelita" than anything and I'm quite content with that.

Anyways, what have I been up to since last time I posted:

I watched Kpop Demon Hunters - IT SUCKED. Prior to watching, I had heard snippets of two of the songs via scrolling through Twitter and thought "wow, this is really bad," but then I had SIX different people pestering me to watch it, so I relented... MY MISTAKE. Guys, this was honestly SO BAD. The movie plot itself was a bit generic ("Frozen" mixed with "Miraculous"), but the music was just DREADFUL. EVERY TIME THEY SANG I was longing to pick up the remote and fast forward past it. It's not that the singers were necessarily "bad" but the audio mixing and arrangments just were not for me and those songs... I've listened to kpop for like... over 15 years at this point, basically as long as I've been into lolita... and so I'd think "Yeah, I know what a Kpop song sounds like!" despite it being a pretty diverse genre. Nothing about the songs in this movie felt "Kpop" to me. It really isn't even a Kpop movie and I think that's why people kept recommending it to me but it just isn't one as far as I'm concerned.

I also watched Cart - Very good! Reminded me a bit of Iron Jawed Angels - the premise is basically a supermarket abuses its workers by demanding they work long hours and it tries to keep them as temp employees instead of full-time employees. All of the employees there are struggling in their own way, so they can't really afford not to be full-time, and the main character (currently a temp employee seeking full-time employment) even has worked overtime for free in hopes of getting a good review so she can become a full-time employee, but the company suddenly lays off all the full-time employees one day with short notice, planning on replacing them with temp workers that they do not have to treat as well. The workers decide to unionize and face many struggles together, but also form a sort of sisterhood with each other as well.
